VENTILATION
The sauna feels stuffy
If the thermometer is right but the room still feels wrong, ventilation is often the cause. Poor airflow is usually simpler and less expensive to correct than replacing the heater.

A sauna rarely fails all at once. It starts to feel stuffy, the benches darken, the light goes. This page explains where the fault usually is — and if you would rather not work it out yourself, describe it in the form and we will find someone.
COMMON SAUNA PROBLEMS
The four most common sauna faults
Start with the symptom. Some problems need only a focused repair; others are better assessed as a complete renovation.
BENCHES
The benches are dark, soft or cracked
Darkened, soft or cracked timber may need cleaning, treatment or replacement. The right repair depends on the wood species and how far moisture has spread.

The sauna light has failed
Sauna lighting is designed for heat and moisture. Because the wiring follows specific safety rules, even a lamp replacement may require an electrician.
